FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I DECIDE WHICH COUNSELLOR IS RIGHT FOR ME?

Taking your time to find the right person is an important step. I am here to talk through any questions or fears that you may have before you decide whether to book an initial session. There is absolutely no pressure to make a decision when we speak, it is simply time for you to explore before deciding what feels right for you.

HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?

Each session is up to 1 hour. Typically, these would take place on a weekly basis but this can be tailored to suit your individual needs.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This is entirely up to the individual. Whether you would like just a few sessions or feel you need longer term support, there is no obligation and this is something that can be discussed when we first meet.

HOW MUCH DOES COUNSELLING COST?

Each counselling session costs £60, which can be paid prior to, or on the day of, the appointment (either by cash or bank transfer).

WILL OUR SESSIONS BE CONFIDENTIAL?

Confidentiality in counselling is key to building trust. I will listen to you in confidence and will not discuss anything you say, with your GP, employer, family, friends or anyone else, without your consent.*

*Limits to confidentiality:

There are certain circumstances when I may have to pass on information about you. These include:

  • if I believe you or other people are in danger

  • if I am required to do so by law

  • if referring you to another healthcare professional for help

  • when discussing my work with a therapeutic supervisor (this is standard practice)

Any such disclosures will usually be made with your knowledge and consent.
